Relief for Haiti

Haiti ’s earthquake is a disaster of epic proportions. I myself am stunned at the staggering potential numbers of loss lives and wounded. It is hard to fathom what they are going through and even more so why this had to happen. But we as people can’t just sit around and ask why. We must be proactive and help the best we can.

MTV’s “Hottest” Emcees?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 14, 2009 by problakem

mtv_hottest_mc_2009

MTV is back with their hottest Emcees in the game list. Every year there is some sort of controversy on who makes the list and who doesn’t and this year is no exception.

Lets be clear, this list is for commercial/mainstream artist who are signed to big labels and  tour constantly. I’ll start reviewing the list With Jay-Z coming in @ the top spot, it shows that Uncle Hovie Still got it! Lmao this guy is unbelievable.  I mean the man just keeps making history over and over. Props.

Wayne comes in second, which I mean lets be serious, if he has an album out he’s probably number one. He’s All over the radio/hood/clubs, and then signed the hottest emcee to his Young Money Imprint. Helluva year. Which brings me to Mr. Degrassi himself, Drizzy Drake.

Who could’ve predicted that an actor would have the game in frenzy over a mixtape. Congrats to duke for making a big impact on the game. I do think a lot of his appeal does have to do with his singing, so should that count for being a hot emcee? I dunno, I don’t make the list dun dun lol.

My Qualm with the D.O.A record

Let me preface this Blog/Rant off by stating that I am a huge Jay fan, have been for a minute. He has at least three classic albums to his catalog and might add a fourth with BP3. Legendary Status. That is part of the reasoning that I have a problem with this D.O.A record.

Is it true that autotune is a copout for some people who have zero talent? YES. Is it true that it has become annoying as all hell to constantly hear on the radio? YES. Is it used by some people who are d*ck riding followers? Once again, YES. With that being the case, any trend that is not worthy of staying, will be gone. Not because an artist says so, but because the consumer will move on, that’s why it is called a trend; here today gone tomorrow.

Jay-Z has earned his place in hip hop and for the record D.O.A is a dope hip hop track (NO I.D. went in on that beat Chi Town Waddup). But I do have a problem with it. I have a problem because he is stepping on the unsigned artists, or the signed artist who has a slave deal. Don’t think so? Well let me explain….
